HEAT CARLISLE.

Since launching this program on November 2, United Way has provided funds for emergency heating assistance to nearly 52 families, helping them to maintain heat in their homes. To ensure this program remains available through the 2010 heating season, we need your help.

You can support this program by counting your spare change at any Metro Bank, Magic Money Machine.  Deposit your counted coin in United Way's HEAT CARLISLE account (paper money accepted too).  It may cost up to $300 for just one family to maintain heat in their home.

Visit any Metro Bank location and help families stay a little warmer this heating season.  Find a Metro Bank location convenient to you or read the full press release.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Community Investment

The United Wayof Carlisle and Cumberland County funds over 40 programs that meet our community’s most pressing needs.  Every summer and fall volunteers are recruited to serve on panels to review programs and make funding decisions.  Volunteers serve on one of the following 5 funding panels:

  • Shelter & Supportive (Basic Needs) Services
  • Adult Education & Self Sufficiency
  • Early Care & Education – administered by Success by 6 ©
  • Supportive Services for Adults and Families
  • Youth Intervention

Panel volunteers make site visits at the programs assigned to their panel, review budget and program applications, program outcomes (results) and make final funding decisions.  If you are interested in volunteering or finding out more about Community Investment, please contact Kate Brazel at 243-4805 or kate@carlisleunitedway.org.

SAVE THE DATE - June 21, 2010

How do you intend to spend the longest day of the year? Volunteer!

United Way is replacing the traditional Day of Caring with National Day of Action, a global mobilization of volunteers working together to help in local communities.  United Way will match community volunteers with work projects available at local non-profit organizations.  We invite your company/organization to recruit volunteer teams to participate.

GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER.

For additional information about National Day of Action, or to volunteer, contact Kate Brazel or call 717.243.4805.
